FocusMVPPrivacy Notice
Last updated: May 14, 2026
Who we are
FocusMVP (the "Service") is operated by Jason Hopper, an individual sole proprietor trading as FocusMVP and operating focusmvp.app (the "Seller"). For personal data collected through the Service, the Seller (Jason Hopper) acts as the data controller.
Data we collect
- Account data — your name, email address, hashed password or third-party login identifier.
- Teacher content — lesson materials, class names, units, and AI-generated boards you create.
- Student responses — first names students enter when joining via QR code, and the answers they submit to warm-up or exit-ticket prompts.
- Usage and telemetry — pages visited, actions taken, device type, browser, IP address, error logs.
- Support communications — messages you send to us.
- Billing data — handled by Paddle; we receive subscription status but not full card details.
How we use your data
- To create and operate your account (legal basis: contract performance).
- To generate AI focus boards and process student responses you submit (contract performance).
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents (legitimate interests).
- To improve the Service and fix bugs (legitimate interests).
- To respond to support requests (contract performance).
- To send essential service emails (contract performance) and, with your consent, occasional product updates.
Student data
FocusMVP is designed to minimize student data collection. Students join warm-ups by entering only a first name (or a chosen nickname) — we do not require email addresses, last names, or other identifiers. Student responses are visible only to the teacher who created the board. Teachers are responsible for obtaining any consents required by their school, district, or jurisdiction before using the Service with students.
Who we share data with
- Service providers (subprocessors): hosting, database, AI model providers, error monitoring, and analytics tooling — bound by data processing agreements.
- Paddle.com Inc. — our Merchant of Record, who processes payments, manages subscriptions, calculates and remits taxes, and issues invoices.
- Authorities — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
- Professional advisers — legal, accounting, or audit professionals under confidentiality.
We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
The Service may store and process data in jurisdictions outside your country, including the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other recognized safeguards.
Retention
We keep account data while your account is active. Teacher content and student responses are kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to allow recovery, then deleted or anonymized. Billing records are kept for the period required by tax and accounting law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise these rights by contacting us through focusmvp.app. UK and EEA users have the right to lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, encrypted storage, role-based access controls, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong unique password and keep your account credentials private.
Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session continuity, and preferences (such as light/dark mode). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Changes
We may update this Notice. Material changes will be communicated through the Service. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
